Grand
Canyon National Park, in northern Arizona, established as a national monument
in 1908 and as a national park in 1919. The park, 4930.6 sq km (1903.7 sq mi)
in area, contains the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River and includes the
river's entire course from the southern end of Glen Canyon National Recreation
Area to the eastern boundary of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The
great chasm is more than 1500 m (more than 5000 ft) deep. Paved roads wind
around a small part of the Grand Canyon's rims, and a few trails descend into
the canyon. The extreme variations in elevation from the depths of the canyon
to the northern rim have produced four distinct zones of climate and plant life

Exploring
the Grand Canyon National Park is an exciting experience. The Grand Canyon is
best viewed under various lighting conditions and sites. Most everyone goes to
the various view sites by car or bus. This is an excellent way of seeing the
various parts of the Grand Canyon that are visible from the rim. However,
viewing from the ground only permits a very limited view of the Grand Canyon.
To truly get a "feel" of the full majesty of the Grand Canyon, only an air tour
will permit the awesome views that the Grand Canyon has to offer. Air Grand
Canyon strives to offer tours that will permit our guests to experience all the
majesty the Grand Canyon has to offer.
